Iran: Freezing cold weather, inhuman conditions for women in prison

Since October 2016 authorities have reportedly placed female inmates under pressure in Yasouj Prison, southwestern Iran.

They have been imposing various restrictions on prisoners by closing down the ward’s kitchen, providing low quality foods, cutting phone lines, heating services and hygienic system.

It is worth noting that this facility is deprived of basic necessities due to being located in the outskirts of the Madvan region of Yasouj Province.

Prisoners have to wear all their clothes at night because there is no heating equipment.

Prior to this in the past spring and summer, the bathroom hot water was shut-off and the inmates were forced to boil water in the kitchen for showeringpurposes.
