Iran sentences prisoner to death for theft

The 15th Branch of the Tehran Court sentenced a prisoner to death for theft.

Supplementary investigation lead to the transfer of this individual, accused of attempted robbery, to the 15th branch of the revolutionary court.

He was found guilty for theft, forging government documents and selling drugs, and thus sentenced to death for “spreading corruption on earth”, according to state-run Javan Online news agency.

The issued death sentence was sent to the regime’s supreme court for confirmation.

Iran is continuing to violate international law by putting to death those charged with non-lethal crimes. Apart from drug-related offences, people were executed for crimes such as theft, blasphemy and corruption.
