Iran: Death sentence issued in absentia for an Afghan

An Afghan native residing in Iran was tried and sentenced to death in absentia after five years.

“The accused individual has fled since the very first day, and there is no evidence to charge him with the crime. He is sentenced to death in absentia while no crime has been proven against him,” a court-appointed lawyer said.

A trial session was held in branch 4, headed by judge Asghar Abdollahi, chaired by judge Keykha.
