A women committed suicide immediately after being released of an Intelligence Ministry detention center, in Kermanshah, northwest Iran.
Mahdis Mirghavami, an engineer, immediately committed suicide, after “being raped by intelligence agents,” according to a source.. She was summoned to an Intelligence Ministry office on January 24th and had been detained for two days.
Mirghavami’s family were warned to stay away from press.
It’s a terrible story and sadly not a unique one. Iranian officials have frequently denied any claims of rape inside jails.
