Four inmates were hanged on Sunday in Zahedan and Ghabahar Prisones, both in southeast of Iran.
The victims were identified as Yarmohammad Rigi, Esmaeil Rigi, Rahim Rigi in Zahedan Prison and Manuchehr Abkhiz in Chabahar Prison. All four were convicted of drug related charges.
The night before their executions dozens of people had gathered outside Zahedan Central Prison demanding a halt to the executions.
Iran has increased the number executions for Sunni Baluchis convicted of drug charges following the mullahs’ judiciary chief ordering the acceleration pace of their executions.
