Political prisoner and student activist Majid Asadi, have recently been in uncertain condition in ward 209 of Tehran’s Evin Prison
Asadi was arrested on 18 February 2008 in his house in Karaj by the agents who neither presented any warrant nor did they introduce themselves. Asadi was then transferred to Evin prison.
Majid Asadi, 34, has a history of being arrested and jailed on political charges. The former student activist of Tehran’s Allameh Tabatabaei University was first arrested on 3 June 2018 by the Ministry of Intelligence, and released about three months later.
In March 2010, branch 15 of Tehran Revolutionary Court presided over by Judge Abolghasem Salavati sentenced Asadi to four years in jail on charges of ‘assembly and collusion against national security’, a sentence which was also approved by the appeals court. To serve his prison term, Asadi was taken to ward 350 of Evin Prison on October 5, 2011, and released on 8 June 2016 at the end of his term. Now, two months after being arrested again, there’s still no information on his status or his whereabouts.
