Security forces arrested some 60 young people at a mixed-gender party held in Gorgan, northern Iran, according to General Director of Gorgan’s Public Courts.
These people were arrested by the morality police and on the order of the Judiciary, the state-run ISNA news agency quoted Ezatollah Hamzehnejad as saying.
He claimed that a number of guests tested positive for use of alcohol. He also claimed that some alcoholic beverages were discovered and confiscated during the inspection of the venue of the party.
“A criminal case has been filed by the villa owner and all the guests who had positive alcohol tests. The other cases are being investigated for having illicit relations,” Hamzehnejad continued.
Security forces have raided many get-togethers in recent months and arrested and imprisoned a large number of youths participating.
