30 online activists arrested in Hormuzgan
Over 30 online activists in the southern province of Hormuzgan were arrested and turned in to judicial authorities.
In a news conference on Monday, May 15, Salimi, general director of the Intelligence Department of Hormuzgan, said that those arrested were accused of “misleading the public opinion” via “anti-religious activities” on the internet.
Citing Salimi, the state-run Mehr news agency wrote that the Intelligence agents had identified these individuals by monitoring the cyberspace.
A considerable number of online activists have been arrested by security forces in recent months in line with the instructions issued by the General Prosecutor to “safeguard the security of the elections atmosphere.”
