Iran: Official says death penalty for drug charges will not be abolished

Two prisoners were hanged today, September 20, 2017, on drug related charges in Choubindar Prison of Qazvin, northwest of Tehran. They were identified as 53-year-old Tayeb Hajizadeh and Mojtaba Rahmati. They had been on death row respectively since five and three years ago.
Another prisoner was hanged on September 27, in Central Prison of Mashhad, northeastern Iran. The 29-year-old inmate who have not been named by the state media, was found guilty of murder, according to the state-run Mashregh news agency.
