On the morning of November 29, at least eight detainees, mostly charged with murder, were executed in different sections of Rajaie Shahr Prison in Karaj, west of Tehran. The identities of five of the executed prisoners are Hassan Amanzadeh, Farshid Karimi, Hossein Ali Shir, Majid Nazifi, and another prisoner identified by his last name as Karimi.
The state-run Tasnim news agency reported on the same day that a prisoner charged with murder was hanged in Rajaie Shahr Prison in Karaj. His death sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court, after investigations were complete and an indictment was issued by the 1st Branch of the Tehran Penal Court.
In yet another case, according to the state-run Balagh Website on the same day, Asadullah Jafari, the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Mazandaran announced that the death sentence of a murderer from Amol city was carried out in the prison’s courtyard in the morning. The convicted man, was identified only by his initials as M.A.
Absence of classification of unintentional murders in Iran lead to capital punishment for everyone committed murder, intentional or unintentional.
