Political prisoner Rasoul Hardani, held at Rajaie Shahr Prison of Karaj, west of Tehran, has been on hunger strike since Monday, June 18, 2013, to protest prison authorities denying him medical treatment outside the prison.
The political prisoner suffers from thyroid, intestinal infections and UTI and needs medical treatment. However, prison officials namely Anvari, Ahmadi and Amini, have refused to allow him hospital transfer.
Rasoul Hardani was arrested on security charges in 2000 while under the age of 18, and was initially sentenced to death. The verdict was reduced to life imprisonment in an appeal court. The prisoner who currently serving 18th year behind bars at Rajaei Shahr Prison.
