Mohammad Mahdavifar, a poet, was arrested on Saturday May 27 on charges of “propaganda against the establishment” and “insulting the Iranian officials.” He was taken to Kashan Prison.
Mahdavifar had been arrested on September 19, 2016 and taken to solitary confinement in Isfahan Prison and subsequently was released on November 2, 2016.
On another occasion, he was interrogated for writing a poem, subsequently tried at Kashan’s Justice Department and sentenced to 1.5 years in prison on the charge of “spreading falsities.” The ruling was commuted to cash fine in August 2016.
As Mr. Mahdavifar was informed, the charges raised against him included “distortion of public opinion”, “propaganda against the state”, and “insulting officials” such as Jannati and Khalkhali.
