The 22nd Week of the “No to Executions Tuesdays” Campaign

The “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign continues to gain momentum, with the number of prisoners participating increasing last week. Nine prisoners of conscience in Unit 3 of Qezel-Hesar Prison joined the campaign.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, prisoners in seven prisons across the country participated in the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign for the 22nd consecutive week. The prisoners’ statement, declaring their participation in the campaign, follows below.

Today, Tuesday, June 25, 2024, prisoners in 12 different wards in seven prisons of the country went on a hunger strike for the 22nd week to confront the issuance and implementation of inhumane death sentences. The continuation of the “Tuesdays No to Execution” campaign comes as the number of prisoners participating in this campaign increased last week with the addition of 9 prisoners of conscience in Unit 3 of Qezel-Hesar Prison.

According to reliable sources, prisoners in Evin Prison (Wards 4, 6, and 8), Ghezel-Hesar Prison (Units 3 and 4), Karaj Central Prison, Khorramabad Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Saqqez Prison, and Mashhad Prison went on hunger strike today for the 22nd consecutive week in protest against the death penalty.
