In recent days, a new wave of widespread arrests across different parts of Iran, including Fars Province, Jiroft, and Parsabad, has raised growing concerns about the intensification of security and judicial repression against citizens. Reports received from local sources and human rights organizations indicate that these arrests have often been carried out without judicial warrants and under conditions that violate legal procedures.
Large-Scale Security Operations in Fars, Jiroft, and Parsabad
In Fars Province, several citizens who had previously participated in civil and social activities have been arrested by security forces. In many cases, these individuals were assaulted violently in front of their family members without prior notice and were taken to undisclosed locations. There is still no official information available on the status of some of those detained.
In Jiroft as well, security agents raided the homes of several young individuals without presenting legal warrants, leading to their sudden arrest. Families have expressed deep concern about the complete lack of information regarding the fate of their loved ones, and so far, security and judicial authorities have failed to provide clear responses.
Meanwhile, the police chief of Ardabil announced the arrest of four young people on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “disturbing public opinion.” The allegations against them reportedly relate to their activities in a Telegram channel.
Judiciary Chief Orders Harsh Crackdown
Coinciding with the surge in arrests, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of the judiciary, issued a threatening statement calling for “swift and severe” action against those who, in the government’s view, endanger public security. He urged security forces to respond immediately and without leniency to any activity that “threatens public order.”
Human rights activists have interpreted these remarks as a green light for extrajudicial actions and the suppression of any form of civil dissent. Human rights organizations have warned that such policies pave the way for widespread violations of citizens’ fundamental rights, especially during arrest and trial processes.
Ongoing Violations of Defendants’ Rights
According to human rights organizations, a significant number of detainees are being held in conditions that blatantly violate domestic laws and international human rights standards. Many of these individuals are denied access to a lawyer of their choice and are kept in solitary confinement. Interrogations are conducted without legal oversight and are often accompanied by psychological and physical coercion. In some cases, confessions obtained under such conditions have been used as evidence in judicial proceedings—an issue that has repeatedly been condemned by international bodies, including Amnesty International.
