Amid the growing wave of executions in Iran, two more prisoners have been hanged in the prisons of Kerman and Sabzevar.
In the early hours of Monday, July 21, 2025, Mohammad Amin Habibi, a prisoner from Khash, was executed in Shahab Prison in Kerman. He had previously been sentenced to death on charges related to drug offenses and the murder of a law enforcement officer. Informed sources emphasize that the judicial process in his case was marred by numerous ambiguities, and he was denied adequate access to legal counsel and the right to a fair trial.
Execution of Ali Joghatayi in Sabzevar
Also, at dawn on Tuesday, June 14, 2025, Ali Joghatayi was executed in Sabzevar Prison. He had been arrested on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death. Drug-related executions in Iran have drawn international criticism, as such punishments are considered to violate international human rights standards by being applied to crimes that do not fall under the category of “most serious offenses.”
