The 100th Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 55 Prisons Across Iran

December 23, 2025
FacebookTwitterEmail

On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign marks its 100th week, and with the women’s ward of Yazd Prison joining, this protest movement now continues in 55 prisons across the country. The prisoners participating in this campaign, continuing their 100 weeks of relentless struggle against the regime’s “killing machine” and in protest of the wave of executions, which has surpassed 2,000 people in the current calendar year alone, are going on a hunger strike.

The full text of the statement from the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign can be seen below:

“No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign Expands in its 100th Week with the Joining of the Women’s Ward of Yazd Prison

One hundred weeks of relentless struggle against the killing machine and the gallows.

Congratulating all our compatriots, the imprisoned members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, and each and every prisoner on death row on the occasion of Yalda Night, and with the hope for the abolition of the death penalty in a free and prosperous Iran.

In its 100th week, despite numerous ups and downs, acts of courage, and the most sorrowful nights witnessing the execution of its comrades and fellow inmates, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign continues its path with unabated momentum.

One hundred weeks of ‘No to Execution,’

One hundred weeks of relentless struggle against the killing machine and the gallows,

One hundred weeks of standing against cruelty and mercilessness,

One hundred weeks of shattering the dominance of the gallows and the prison,

One hundred weeks of calls to perseverance by the families of prisoners.

One hundred weeks of resistance against a dictatorship that tries to silence every voice of protest and impose itself on society through executions and death squads. An illegitimate regime that, according to the 72nd UN resolution passed last week, has sent more than 2,000 individuals (more than double the number in 2024) to the gallows so far in the year 2025 alone, with the aim of intimidation and suppression; this campaign has continued without pause and will persist until the anti-human death penalty is abolished.

We have been informed that coinciding with the 100th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, the women’s ward of Yazd Prison has also announced that they are joining. While sending our greetings and gratitude to these dear ones, we hope that other prisons in the country will also join this campaign in the future, and that as we continue on this path, we will reach a day when the ‘No to Execution’ campaign spreads throughout the nation and paves the way for the abolition of the inhumane death penalty.

The number of executions in the month of Azar [November 22-December 21] has reached a figure of over 357.

This wave of slaughter and execution of prisoners indicates the extremely critical situation of a government that, caught in a vortex of incurable political, social, and economic crises that have made even ordinary daily life impossible for the people, has resorted to the mass killing of prisoners. Based on a completely flawed assessment of Iranian society, it aims to prevent future protests by displaying this savagery and ruthlessness in executing the youth of this land; but this unbridled savagery no longer cures, and cannot cure, any of the ailments of tyranny.

In its 100th week, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is on hunger strike in the following 55 prisons:

Evin Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Qezel Hesar Prison (Units 2, 3, and 4), Karaj Central Prison, Fardis Prison in Karaj, Greater Tehran Penitentiary, Qarchak Prison, Khorin Prison in Varamin, Chubindar Prison in Qazvin, Ahar Prison, Arak Prison, Langarud Prison in Qom, Khorramabad Prison, Borujerd Prison, Yasuj Prison, Asadabad Prison in Isfahan, Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan, Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz (men’s and women’s wards), Nezam Prison in Shiraz, Adel Abad Prison in Shiraz (men’s and women’s wards), Firuzabad Prison in Fars, Dehdasht Prison, Zahedan Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Borazjan Prison, Ramhormoz Prison, Behbahan Prison, Bam Prison, Yazd Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Kahnuj Prison, Tabas Prison, Birjand Central Prison, Mashhad Prison, Sabzevar Prison, Gonbad-e Kavus Prison, Qaem Shahr Prison, Rasht Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Rudsar Prison, Haviq Prison in Talesh, Ezbaram Prison in Lahijan, Dizel Abad Prison in Kermanshah, Ardabil Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Salmas Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Miandoab Prison, Mahabad Prison, Bukan Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Sanandaj Prison, Kamyaran Prison, and Ilam Prison.
