Iran: Cruel denial of medical care for political prisoner

Amirsalar Davoudi, the lawyer of political prisoner Soheil Arabi, has been informed about Arabi’s serious health conditions and his severe seizures in Tehran’s Evin Prison, and is demanding authorities transfer him to a hospital to receive the urgent medical care he requires.

He has suffered seizures and been sent to the prison clinic many times. However, he has only received some pills for abdominal pain and the clinic couldn’t do anything more for him, according to an informed source.

He demanded Mr. Arabi be transferred to a hospital outside the prison for necessary treatment. Prison authorities have refused.

Arabi, imprisoned since 2014 without furlough, has recently been denied access to medical care despite his deteriorating conditions and authorities have also refused his request for a conditional release.
