Iran: Political prisoner in critical and worrying condition
Soheil Arabi, a political prisoner in Tehran’s Evin Prison, repeatedly went unconsciousness and suffered severe seizures on February 13th. He was transferred to the prison clinic.
His health conditions are serious and yet prison authorities are refusing to provide him any care or grant him furlough.
Arabi was arrested in January 2014 and then held in Evin Prison under interrogation. He was also placed under pressure for two months.
He has been frequently tried for posting articles on his Facebook account and other social media networks.
He was sentenced to 3 years in prison by branch 15 of Urmia’s Criminal Court for “insulting the supreme leader”, and was also sentenced to 30 lashes and a fine of $130 by branch 10 of the court of administrative justice.
He is currently serving his 32nd month behind bars in Evin’s ward 350.
