Iran: Seriously ill prisoner denied medical treatment

Civil rights activist Arash Sadeghi, imprisoned in ward 35 of Tehran’s Evin Prison, is being denied medical care and prison authorities have refused to transfer him to a hospital.

His condition is dire and he must be granted necessary treatment or else his health will continue to worsen, which could place his life in danger.

Sadeghi is suffering from multiple health problems and symptoms including asthma, abdomen bleeding, colitis and severe anemia due to a long hunger strike

“By failing to authorize Sadeghi’s transfer to hospital, he would face critical conditions and even death,” according to prison doctors.

“Since he cannot eat prison food, he is now severely weakened,” according to witnesses.
