Two executed in Iran over drug charges

The public prosecutor of Qazvin, west of Tehran, has announced two inmates were hanged Tuesday. One of the two was convicted on drug charges while the latter was found guilty of murder, according to the state-run Rokna news agency.

Reza, 31, from Roodsar, northern Iran, was found guilty for possessing drugs, and Branch 2 of the Qazvin Court handed down execution sentences in the city central prison, he added.

It is worth noting these executions have been carried out during the last week of Persian calendar year and Iranian national celebrations.
