Iran: Security forces attack Eid al-Fitr celebrations in Ahwaz, arrest 13 people

Security forces attacked an the Muslim Eid al-Fitr celebration and arrested 13 people in the Malashieh region in Ahwaz, capital of the southwestern province of Khuzistan.
A number of academic activist, who had been previously arrested, were among those detained.
The names of the people that were arrested are as follows: Ahmad Hazbavi, Naser Asadi, Morteza Silavi, Morteza Hardani, Mohammad Afravi, Maher Massoudi, Ali Zahiri, Adnan Hardani, Ahmad Baraje’e, Ali Sharifi, Mohammad Massoudi, Ahmad Massoudi and Obeideh Askin Ghazlavi. There is a decade-old tradition in the Malasheih region when people gather outside of the homes of prisoners sentenced to death and political prisoners on Eid al-Fitr, and sing songs.
