Iran: Traditional musical group forced into cancelling concert in Tehran

The managers of the traditional musical group Mehraveh were put in the position of cancelling their concert themselves, according to the state-run ILNA news agency report on August 22, 2017.
The manager of this group, Shahram Rezaie said that a concert was to be held on Friday August 18 in the Andisheh Hall in Tehran.“We received a number of phone calls which finally forced us to cancel the concert”, he added.
“They told us that if you don’t cancel your concert, there a chance that on the night of the concert, you will receive a letter from the Judiciary cancelling your concert. I thought that if we’re to go on stage with fear and not have a suitable feel to perform, I’d rather (cancel the concert”, the musician said.
