Iran: Medical treatment denied to prisoner

Kamal Hassan Ramazan, a Syrian-born political prisoner in Urmia Central Prison, northwest of Iran, is being denied medical treatment despite his urgent need of surgery. This  could amount to torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment and punishment.

He hurt his leg and needs to undergo surgery and physiotherapy. However, prison authorities are denying him medical treatment.

“Ramazan had a broken leg before his arrest, which has not been healed. He is enduring extreme pain and can barely walk,” according to a source close to this inmate.

He was tried along with two Kurdish inmates in July 2016 and was immediately informed of his 10-year-sentence prison time.
