Iran: Critically ill political prisoner assaulted in hospital
Political prisoner Eassa Saharkhiz was assaulted in a heart hospital.
One of the staff of the Prisons Organization and two soldiers entered his room in a bid to inspect his belongings. They were so brutal that Saharkhiz fell off the bed.
He was subsequently attacjed when inquired about the reason for the inspection, according to reports.
Saharkhiz is currently in dire conditions due to the beating and is receiving oxygen.
Eassa Saharkhiz was sentenced to 21 months behind bars in September 2016. He had been earlier sentenced to two years in prison by the court of first instance for “insulting the supreme leader” and “propaganda against the establishment.”
