Iran: Volleyball champions, deprived of participating in volleyball tournaments


n an emergency meeting the Disciplinary Committee of the Volleyball Federation deprived three volleyball players of the women’s national volleyball team from participating in athletic activities for 1 to 3 years.
The players had participated at Asian Women’s U23 Championship in Thailand.
The Volleyball Federation website announced that the three were deprived of all kind of athletic activities alleging without any explanations that their behavior in Thailand was considered as improper by the Disciplinary Committee.
Shaghayegh Shafie, Negin Shirtari and Mona Ramezani has been barred from any sport activities in the field of Volleyball respectively for three, two and one year.
It is not clear what was meant by improper incidents for Iran’s national team on the sidelines of the games and technically, what the three players had done? According to the state-run Tasnim news agency, June 15, 2017.
