The head of the Iranian Forestry Association said that forestry plans have led to the destruction of forests, according to the state-run ISNA news agency report on December 2, 2017.
“Two million hectares of the Zagros forests have dried up over four years and the drying of 40 million trees is alarming,” Hadi Kiadaliri said.
“42 percent of the northern forests in the country are in decline, and since 1996 there have been about 300 to 350 hectares of pest and disease production. 40 million trees were lost without the authorities saying anything and without any response from the ministers.”
