Iran: Minor offender’s execution imminent

An offender who was charged with unintentional murder at the age of 15 and has been in prison for 15 years is on the verge of execution. The defense lawyer of Mohammad Reza Hadadi, Hossein Ahmadiniaz, said that he was trying to overturn the ruling. (ROKNA state-run Website – Apr. 11, 2018)

Background info:

Mohammad Reza Haddadi was born in 1988, and was sentenced to death at 15 for a robbery that led to murder.

During initial investigations on October 30, 2003, he admitted to robbery and murder but eight days later on November 7, he wrote in a letter to court that one of the other suspects had bribed him into accepting the charges due to his age. He said that he did not play a part in the murder.
