Iran denies political prisoner’s medical care despite shrapnel injuries
Political prisoner Changiz Ghadam Kheiri held in Masjed Soleyman Prison in Khuzestan Province has staged a hunger strike since April 21, protesting the authorities depriving him medical treatment and hospital transfer.
The Kurdish activist who has suffered shrapnel wounds since he was arrested seven years ago. Prison officials refuse to authorize hospital transfer for him and deny request for medical leave against doctors’ advice emphasizing he should undergo surgery to pull out the shrapnel.
Changiz Ghadam Kheiri, born in 1988, was arrested in 2011 and transferred to Sanandaj central prison. After two years, he was exiled to Masjed Soleiman prison.
This prisoners was sentenced to 40 years imprisonment for a six-month membership in one of the Kurdish parties by a regime’s court in Sanandaj.
It is worth mentioning that after the arrest of Changiz Ghadam Kheiri, his family was informed about the arrest and wounding of the prisoner only after a few months of having no news about him.
