A 22year old Sunni inmate has been recently sentenced to death on the charge of “waging war to God” by the Branch 1 of Urmia’s Revolutionary Court.
Davoud Mihanparast was arrested in June 2016 along with five others in Urmia. They were taken to a Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Urmia where he was placed in solitary confinement and repeatedly interrogated, according to an informed source.
Mihanparast was tried this April and the court issued the verdict on May 30. He is currently held in Ward 13 and officially informed of his sentence.
