Christian prisoner of conscience Amin Afshar Naderi, who is detained in Evin Prison’s Section 4, went on a hunger strike on July 5, after prison officials banned political-security prisoners from seeing visiting UN representatives.
Section 4 officials transferred Amin Afshari and a number of other prisoners to the prison court before the visit.
Prisoner with dual nationalities including Karen Vafadari, Professor Ahmad-Reza Jalali and Ali Kebrit Saz Tavakoli were transferred to sections 2A and 209 and were banned from meeting with the UN representatives.
These political prisoners and prisoners of conscience were returned to their sections at 1pm. Amin Afshar was arrested on August 26, 2016 on a private property in Firouz Koh for the charge of “being a member of a Home Church” and was transferred to Section 209 in Evin Prison.
