Abbas Hossein Panahi, one of political activist Ramin Hossein Panahi’s relatives, was arrested on July 13. The State Security Forces transferred him to an unknown location without providing a warrant or any reason for the arrest.
Ramin Hossein Panahi, a member of the Komala armed opposition group, was arrested on 23 June after taking part in armed clashes with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in the city of Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, north-west Iran.
According to a local unofficial source Ramin Hossein Panahi is injured and currently held in an undisclosed location.
Hours after Ramin Hossein Panahi’s arrest in late June, the Revolutionary Guards stormed his parents’ house in the village of Qeruchay, near Sanandaj, and arrested a number of his family members and relatives. It is said that this is an attempt by the Iranian authorities to put pressure on Ramin Hossein Panahi’s family.
Amnesty International has described the arrest of the five family members as “enforced disappearance” and demanded the Iranian authorities to reveal the fate and whereabouts of them as well as clarifying the situation of Ramin Hossein Panahi
It also demanded Iran to release those have been detained solely because of their family connection with Ramin Hossein Panahi.
