Masoumeh Dehqan, wife of Abdolfattah Soltani, a lawyer detained in Section 350 in Evin Prison, has expressed concern over her husband’s physical health.
Masoumeh Dehqan has posted the following message on her Instagram page:
“We had a visit today. My husband Abdolfattah Soltani was once again very ill. He said he had been suffering from severe digestive problems and colitis for several days. Two months ago, during his leave, tests showed that he was suffering from severe anemia, which the doctor said would not improve if his situation did not change”.
“Unfortunately, he now has hemorrhoid on top of the anemia,” she wrote.
“As days go by, he becomes weaker and his illnesses including blood pressure, waist and neck lumbar disc, and gastrointestinal problems, deteriorates”.
Soltani, who is an Iranian human rights lawyer, was arrested on Saturday, September 10, 2011, and was sentenced to 18 years in prison and 20 years of disbarment for receiving the Nuremberg Human Rights Prize from Germany, giving interviews to the media about his clients’ cases and participating in the establishment of the Center of Human Rights Defenders. The sentence was later reduced to 13 years in an appeals court.
