Heidar Asiabi, the Secretary of the Supreme Leader’s Office for the Prohibition of Vice and Promotion of Virtue in Semnan Province announced on October 5, 2017 that more than 2,400 people were charged with prohibiting vice and promoting virtue, according to the state-run Tasnim news agency.
“From these people, more than 2000 are women who are at different levels and give out verbal notices”, he acknowledged.
According to him, these women who range in age from 14 to 15 to older ages are active in all the months of the year carrying out this duty.
Those who are charged with prohibiting vice and promoting virtue are agents who give notices to women and even arrest them for any kind of violation of the mandatory veil and other issues they deem inappropriate. They are active on the streets, schools, offices and parks.
