Ali Hadizadegan, the Chairman of the Mashhad Forensic Medicine Organization said that according to a survey conducted in 28 provinces, about 66 percent of the families that reached out to the Organization had experienced domestic violence at least once in their marriage.
“Studies show that 52% of the violence was psychological and verbal, 37.8% was physical violence and 10.2% was sexual violence”, he added.
According to Hadizadegan, the reason for the referral of 22% of the women to the Forensic Medicine Organization was spousal abuse. Most of the injured women were between the ages of 20 to 35 and had elementary education, according to the state-run Fars news agency report on November 23, 2017.
