The state-run Bajestan news agency reported that a man was publicly flogged on December 5, 2017, for getting in a knife fight in Bajestan, situated in the center of Khorasan Razavi Province in north eastern Iran. According to the city’s prosecutor, legal proceedings and interrogations were carried out by the 2nd Branch of the Penal Court.
It was requested from the initial court proceedings that the man be lashed in public, which was approved by the court and in light of the sensitivities of the case, the sentence was carried out in less than one month.
Prosecutor Mohajerian said that the judiciary would not be influenced by the negative atmosphere and that they would carry out all measures decisively in accordance with the law.
