Today, February 13, marks 11th day of hunger strike which has been switched to dry since four days ago, launched by political prisoners Atena Daemi and Golrokh Iraee. They are in critical conditions and their lives are in danger.

Monday, February 12, 2018, Mr. Hossein Daemi gave news that his daughter, Atena Daemi, and her fellow inmate, Golrokh Iraee, cannot speak, or walk. “They cannot even sleep for a moment. The Coroner’s Office has issued an urgent action order, but no action has been taken, yet.”

Ensiyeh Daemi, Atena’s sister, wrote in a tweet that she had to write down her sister’s last will on the phone as her sister could not properly talk.

Mr. Daemi said the officials are not responding to his inquiries. He also added “If my daughters die in prison, it will not be by suicide, they will be killed. I am Atena_Daemi’s father and I hold Iranian authorities responsible for the lives of my children.”

The two political prisoners began their hunger strike on Friday, February 3, 2018, protesting their unlawful transfer to the notorious Varamin’s Qarchak Prison.

In a statement released on February 3, they announced they are refusing food in protest to the Iranian regime’s breach of the principle of classification and separation of prisoners.

On the morning of Saturday, February 10, 2018, they began their dry hunger strike, as they had declared before.

They are demanding their own simultaneous return to the Evin Prison’s women’s ward and the return to Evin of political prisoner Soheil Arabi, who is also in exile in Gohardasht Prison. Soheil Arabi, a writer, blogger and activist, went on hunger strike on January 25, 2018, to protest the illegal banishment of the two imprisoned women.
