Detained minor offender, Mohammad Salehi, who has been sentenced to death and is detained in Mahabad Prison went on hunger strike ten days ago in protest to the violation of his rights in his case proceedings. He is currently being kept in solitary confinement and was beaten because he refused to end his strike.
The young man, who is from Sardasht, was charged with murder at 17 years of age. The parents of the victim agreed to a sum of money instead of retribution (death sentence) but the judges seeing his case did not change his sentence for unknown reasons…
According to an informed source, the prisoner has been detained for close to 18 months and is around 19 years old.
“He was beaten in solitary confinement for refusing to end his hunger strike”, the source added.
