Prison authorities have blocked political prisoner Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee from contact with her jailed husband, Arash Sadeghi.
Political prisoner Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee, currently detained in Qarchak Prison in Varamin, is denied to visit and call her husband, Arash Sadeghi, also a political prisoner in Raja’i Shahr Prison in Karaj.
Iraee, who had been serving a six-year prison sentence since October 2016 primarily for writing an unpublished story about stoning in Iran, walked out of Evin Prison in Tehran on April 8, 2019, after posting bail set at 60 million tomans.
Tehran’s Revolutionary Court examined a new case filed against Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee and Atena Daemi on June 18, 2019, sentencing them to an additional 2.1 years in prison.
On September 5, 2019, Ms. Iraee’s lawyer announced that Tehran Appeals Court upheld a joint sentence against them under the charges of “insulting the supreme leader” and “propaganda against the state.”
Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee was arrested again on November 9, 2019, by 10 male security agents who did not show their arrest warrant.
They took her away to Vozara Detention Center in downtown Tehran. Ms. Iraee was incarcerated in Vozara Detention Center for Sunday. Now, she has been taken to Qarchak Prison where she is presently being held in the Salamat Ward.
According to the order issued by Judge Mohammad Baraei, the head of the Branch One of the prosecutor’s office, Golrokh Iraee was to be transferred to Evin Prison. However, Gholamreza Ziaei, the head of Evin Prison refused to accept Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee in Evin Prison.
Ms. Iraee’s husband, Arash Sadeghi, is presently incarcerated in Gohardasht (a.k.a. Rajaiishahr) Prison in poor health. He is serving a 19-year sentence for his peaceful activities. He suffers from bone cancer (chondrosarcoma) and underwent an operation last year, but was returned to prison before completing his chemotherapy and other essential treatment.
