Iranian security forces and police shot and killed two young men from Iran’s Arab minority, in arbitrary shootings in the city of Shush in Khuzestan Province, southwest Iran.

According to local sources, Ebrahim Atshani, 20, and Mostafa Hargani, 22, were shot by the IRGC Basij forces of “Danesh” base in the city of Shush. Both young men lost their lives after being taken to hospital.

An informed source said the two men were passing with their motorcycles near where the paramilitary Basij headquarters are based.

“There were shots fired at them. Ebrahim was hit in the legs and stomach, and Mostafa was hit in the shoulders. Ebrahim’s leg was amputated, and he died on the afternoon of Saturday, March 27,” the source said.

Mostafa was alive when he was transferred to the hospital but died in the evening of Saturday, March 27.

The source said security forces claimed the two men were injured after attacking the headquarters and were detained, but their families have denied the allegations.

Ebrahim Atshani had been arrested during the November 2019 protests and was released on bail after several months in prison.

In a report by the state-run Mehr news website an announcement from the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Public Relations said that the two men were “a terrorist team”. The report said they had attacked the paramilitary base with the intent of entering the headquarters. The two men were said to have weapons and ammunition which was confiscated.

The Iranians regime’s security forces and police have a history of shooting and killing civilians.

In August 2020, the state security forces shot and killed two young motorcyclists in Tehran because they did not show their driver’s license.
The two were stopped by the police in Shahriar in southern Tehran and asked to show their driving licenses. They tried to leave the scene and the police opened fire on them, killing Alireza Goudarzi on the spot. The second man, Alireza Jafarlu, was wounded but died due to the lack of medical treatment.
