The Wave of Executions in Iran, A Clear Violation of Human Rights

February 19, 2025
FacebookTwitterEmail

Reports from inside Iranian prisons indicate that the wave of executions in the country continues. Over the past three days, at least 12 prisoners have been executed in various prisons across Iran. This surge in executions has once again raised international concerns about human rights violations and the lack of fair trials.

Execution in Adel-Abad Prison, Shiraz

At dawn on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, a prisoner named Mehdi Iranian was executed in Adel-Abad Prison, Shiraz. He had previously been arrested on murder charges and sentenced to death.

Monday, February 17, 2025: Hossein Aliyari, a 31-year-old from Zanjan, was executed in Qazvin Prison. He had been arrested and sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

Sunday, February 16, 2025: Sadegh Nezaket, a 33-year-old from Nishapur, was executed in Nishapur Prison. He had been arrested four years ago on murder charges.

Sunday, February 16, 2025: Bahram Almasi Chaykandi, a 40-year-old married man and father of two, was executed in Tabriz Prison. He had been arrested ten years ago on murder charges.

Monday, February 17, 2025: Two prisoners, Borhan Wasimollahi (32 years old, Afghan national) and Heydar Babaei (40 years old, from Dorud), were executed in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan. Both had been convicted of drug-related offenses.

Six Executions in Kerman, Dastgerd Isfahan, and Arak Prisons

Monday, February 17, 2025: Two prisoners, Majid Najafi (from Rafsanjan, convicted of murder) and Masoud Shiri (convicted of drug-related charges), were executed in Kerman Central Prison.

Sunday, February 16, 2025: Hadi Farahani was executed in Arak Central Prison. He had been arrested on murder charges.

Monday, February 17, 2025: In Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, two prisoners named Ezzat Hosseini Douraki (from Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, convicted of drug-related offenses) and Ali Es’haqian (from Zarrinshahr, convicted of drug-related offenses) were executed.

Sunday, February 16, 2025: Mohammad Shamseddin (Erbab), from Kashan, was executed in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, on murder charges.

The increasing number of executions in Iran has sparked widespread international condemnation. Human rights organizations have repeatedly urged Iranian authorities to halt executions and ensure transparency in judicial processes. Many of these executions occur without notifying families and without fair trials, constituting a serious violation of human rights.
