17 Prisoners Executed in Iran in Less Than Ten Days

One woman and two Afghan Nationals are among the executed

At least 17 prisoners have been executed in less than 10 days, across multiple prisons in Iran, signaling a sharp escalation in the regime’s use of the death penalty. The executions, some carried out in groups, took place in Yazd, Minab, Malayer, Aligudarz, Isfahan, Qom, Shiraz, Sari, Arak, Zanjan, and Birjand.

Details of the Executions by Prison:

Yazd Prison – July 21, 2025
Ten prisoners, including one woman, were executed on charges of murder and drug-related offenses. The identities of six individuals have been confirmed:

  • Atefeh Amini, 35, from Yazd – imprisoned for five years on murder charges
  • Reza Akhiri, 31, from Minab – drug-related charges
  • Ali Momeni, 40, from Borujerd – drug-related charges
  • Bahram Seyed Nasiri, 46, from Bandar Abbas – drug-related charges
  • Amirhossein Hassankhani, 35, from Rasht – murder charges
  • Fakhraddin Raei, 44, from Tabriz – murder charges

Aligudarz Prison – July 22, 2025

  • Mohammad Parsa was executed after three years in detention on murder charges.

Qom Prison – July 27, 2025

  • Mahmoud Shirbeigi, 30, from Shahriar – detained on drug-related charges

Shiraz (Adelabad) Prison – July 27, 2025
Three prisoners were executed:

  • Armin Gerayee
  • Saber Yari
  • A third unidentified individual
    All three were reportedly charged with drug-related offenses.

Arak Prison – July 27, 2025

  • Hossein Akbari – detained for three years on drug-related charges

Isfahan Prison – July 27, 2025

  • Saleh Hatami, 37, from Masjed Soleyman, father of one – detained for four years on murder charges

Minab Prison – July 27, 2025

  • Isa Narouei, 35, from Fanouj
  • Amir Ghanbari, 26, from Delgan, father of two
    Both were executed on drug-related charges.

Sari Prison – July 29, 2025

  • Mohammad Shabestani, from Sari – murder charges

Birjand Prison – July 29, 2025
Two Afghan nationals were executed. The identity of one has been confirmed. Both were sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

Zanjan Prison – July 26, 2025

  • Abolfazl Shakeri – detained since 2019 on murder charges

Malayer Prison – July 28, 2025

  • Esmaeil Hajivand – executed after nine years of imprisonment on murder charges
