“No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign Enters 92nd Week Across 54 Prisons in Iran

October 28, 2025
FacebookTwitterEmail

On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign marks its 92nd week, with Borujerd and Ilam prisons joining the protest movement.

In this week’s statement, prisoners highlighted the 283 executions in the Persian month of Mehr alone, including 7 political prisoners, writing: “This scale of killing prisoners is a clear attempt to create terror in society and silence the Iranian people’s calls for freedom.”

The full text of the 92nd “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign statement is as follows:

“No to Execution Tuesdays” Expands to 54 Prisons in its 92nd Week, as Borujerd and Ilam Join

As we pass the 92nd week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, the repressive, execution-driven regime has recorded 283 executions in its shameful record for the Persian month of Mehr, 1404 (September 23 – October 22, 2025), making it the bloodiest month in decades. During this month, 7 political prisoners, 7 women, and two juvenile offenders were sent to the gallows.

Since last Tuesday, 59 executions, including those of 2 women, have been recorded. This wave of executions has been accompanied by the issuance and confirmation of new death sentences against political prisoners, including Kavous Abdollahzadeh, a Kurdish political prisoner, and Zahra Shahbaz Tabari in Lakan Prison of Rasht, as well as the re-affirmation of the death sentences for Manouchehr Fallah and Ehsan Faridi by the Supreme Court.

Last week, authorities and security forces at Evin Prison attempted to transfer Ehsan Afreshteh for the implementation of his sentence, but they faced resistance from other prisoners. The risk of his transfer for execution remains imminent at any moment.

These ruthless sentences are a blatant attempt to create terror in society and to silence the freedom-loving voice of the Iranian people. This despotic regime, which for over 46 years has dragged the people and the country toward death and destruction through corruption and the plunder of the oppressed people’s resources-a practice that continues-seeks its own survival through the tool of execution.

But in the face of this machine of death and intimidation, the people are standing firm. The prisons of Borujerd and Ilam have joined the ranks of prisons that, in the heart of darkness, keep the flame of protest alive. By joining the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, they are making the voice of resistance heard beyond the high prison walls to the world. The brave and grieving families of death-row prisoners also demonstrated this week in front of the parliament, chanting “No to execution,” showing that no power can extinguish the flame of love for freedom and the right to life in this land.

We, the members of this campaign, declare once again:

Execution is a criminal tool for the survival of despotic regimes.

No religious or political justification can legitimize the denial of a human’s right to life. Every execution is a new wound on the body of society and a sign of the failure of law, human dignity, and justice.

We demand an immediate halt to the implementation of all execution sentences, the annulment of all issued death sentences, and unconditional access for international human rights organizations to prisons and prisoners in Iran.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is on hunger strike on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in the following fifty-four prisons:

Evin Prison (Wards 6 & 7), Qezelhesar Prison (Units 2, 3, & 4), Karaj Central Prison, Fardis Prison of Karaj, Greater Tehran Penitentiary, Qarchak Prison, Khorin Prison of Varamin, Choubindar Prison of Qazvin, Ahar Prison, Arak Prison, Langarud Prison, Qom Prison, Khorramabad Prison, Yasuj Prison, Asadabad Prison of Isfahan, Dastgerd Prison of Isfahan, Sheiban Prison of Ahvaz, Sepidar Prison of Ahvaz (men’s and women’s wards), Nezam Prison of Shiraz, Adelabad Prison of Shiraz (men’s and women’s wards), Firozabad Prison of Fars, Dehdasht Prison, Zahedan Prison (women’s ward), Borazjan Prison, Ramhormoz Prison, Behbahan Prison, Bam Prison, Yazd Prison, Kahnuj Prison, Tabas Prison, Mashhad Prison, Sabzevar Prison, Gonbad-e Kavus Prison, Qaemshahr Prison, Rasht Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Rudsar Prison, Havigh Prison of Talesh, Ezbaram Prison of Lahijan, Dizelabad Prison of Kermanshah, Ardabil Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Salmas Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Miandoab Prison, Mahabad Prison, Bukan Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Sanandaj Prison, Kamyaran Prison, Tircheh Blok Prison of Borujerd, and Ilam Prison.
