97th Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 55 Prisons Across Iran

December 2, 2025
FacebookTwitterEmail

On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, the 97th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign will be held in 55 of the country’s prisons. In this week’s statement, released on the eve of Student Day, prisoners, while noting the historical role of the university in the struggle against dictatorship, have addressed the risk of execution facing Ehsan Faridi, a 23-year-old student. The statement also condemns the extensive wave of executions, declaring that nearly 100 prisoners were executed in the past 10 days alone.

The full text of the statement from the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign can be seen below:

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign Continues for its Ninety-Seventh Week in 55 Different Prisons

We begin the 97th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign on the eve of the 16th of Azar (December 7), Student Day, a time when, since December 7, 1953, the university has remained the beating heart and vanguard of the struggle against dictatorship. On this day, we honor the memory of all those who lost their lives on the path to freedom, especially the students who have been victims of “enforced disappearance,” including Saeed Zeynali, who disappeared during the attack on the university dormitory in 1999 and has been missing ever since. He is one example among hundreds of students and citizens who have been victimized by despotic rulers, which constitutes a great injustice for their families and grieving mothers. However, suppression, imprisonment, and execution have not been able to stop students on their path in the struggle for freedom. And it is precisely at this time that the university has once again become the target of tyranny’s attacks. This time, political prisoner Ehsan Faridi, a 23-year-old student, is facing an execution sentence on charges of advocating for freedom, and his life is in danger.

In the past week, we have witnessed an expansion of the wave of executions, such that during the first ten days of Azar, nearly 100 prisoners fell victim to the gallows of the ruling dictatorship, two of whom were women. One execution was also carried out in public to spread terror among the people. Thus, the number of executions since March 20, 2025, has reached 1,564, a figure unprecedented in the last three decades, and this very matter has sparked global protest against the criminal execution sentences in Iran.

Now, with this extensive wave of executions, it is expected that the political community, student activists, and all conscious individuals will join in supporting prisoners sentenced to death and stand in solidarity with justice-seeking families, and raise the voice of “no to execution” in every possible way so that the principal lever of oppression is taken from the hands of the Velayat-e Faqih government and the path to freedom and liberation for the people’s right to sovereignty is paved.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is on a hunger strike on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, for its ninety-seventh week in the following 55 prisons:

Evin Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Qezel Hesar Prison (Units 2, 3, and 4), Karaj Central Prison, Fardis Prison in Karaj, Greater Tehran Penitentiary, Qarchak Prison, Khoorin Prison in Varamin, Choubindar Prison in Qazvin, Ahar Prison, Arak Prison, Langarud Prison in Qom, Khorramabad Prison, Borujerd Prison, Yasuj Prison, Asadabad Prison in Isfahan, Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan, Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz (men’s and women’s wards), Nezam Prison in Shiraz, Adelabad Prison in Shiraz (men’s and women’s wards), Firuzabad Prison in Fars, Dehdasht Prison, Zahedan Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Borazjan Prison, Ramhormoz Prison, Behbahan Prison, Bam Prison, Yazd Prison, Kahnuj Prison, Tabas Prison, Birjand Central Prison, Mashhad Prison, Sabzevar Prison, Gonbad-e Kavus Prison, Qaemshahr Prison, Rasht Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Rudsar Prison, Haviq Prison in Talesh, Ezbaram Prison in Lahijan, Dizel Abad Prison in Kermanshah, Ardabil Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Salmas Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Miandoab Prison, Mahabad Prison, Bukan Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Sanandaj Prison, Kamyaran Prison, and Ilam Prison.
