Iran: Four inmates sentenced to execution, hand amputation and floggings

A prisoner was sentenced to hand amputation for “stealing,” according to the state-run Rokna news agency. “I committed the crime to pay for my children’s treatment. They suffer Kidney diseases and need dialysis;” the accused man says.
On April 26 two individuals were sentenced to death. One of them has to receive 74 lashes before his execution. On the same day another man was also sentenced to flogging.
Iran’s persistent use of cruel and inhuman punishments, including floggings, amputations and forced blinding over the past year, exposes the authorities’ utterly brutal sense of justice, said Amnesty International.
