Iran, home to seven million child laborers

A children’s activist cited child laborers in Iran and said that there were still no exact figures on the number of child workers in Iran.

“This is while official figures say that there are 2 million child laborers in the country but unofficial figures have shown that there are about 7 million from which 50 percent are immigrant children”, Sarah Rezaie said.

“Most of the children are between the ages of 10-15 but according to eye witness accounts, children under the age of 5 and even infants have been involved in forced labor”, she added. (ISNA state-run News Agency – Jun. 12, 2017)
