Iran: Juvenile offender sentenced to death

Twenty two year old Farshid, charged with killing a 17 year old Afghan boy six years ago, when he was 16 years of age, was sentenced to death in court.
“It has been six years that I’ve been jailed. I was a child when I committed this murder and realized what a huge mistake I had made in the Correction and Rehabilitation Centre,” he said in court.
Since the parents of the victim were not identified, the Chief Justice requested the death sentence for him. A request for a review by Farshid’s lawyer was not accepted and the judges issued the death sentence, according to the state-run ROKNA news agency, June 15, 2017.
