Iran: The spokesperson for the Teachers’ Association arrested
The spokesperson for the Teachers’ Association, Mahmoud Beheshti Langroudi was arrested from his home on Tuesday, September 11.
The prosecutor’s office called and told him on Monday August 28, that he had 10 days to go to the prosecutor’s office after he had been notified in writing.
Beheshti Langroudi said that the verdict was illegal and that he would go to the prosecutor’s office in due time but would not return to prison on his own free will.
During the past years Beheshti Langroudi has been arrested time and again for his guild activities. He was the spokesman of the Iranian Teachers’ Trade Association before being sentenced to five years in prison in 2013 on charges of “colluding against national security” and “propaganda against the state” in a trial that lasted less than eight minutes.
He was released from prison on May 11, 2016 due to his deteriorating health condition after a 22-day hunger strike. However, he was threatened multiple times to be returned to prison.
