Civil rights activist Siamak Mirzaei who is imprisoned in Ward 8 of Evin Prison, has started a hunger strike since Saturday, June 17, in protest to repeated sabotage of his case.
After 12 days of hunger strike, Mr. Mirzaei is experiencing sudden drop in blood pressure and weight loss. He is in poor health.
In an open letter earlier this month, he said after 12 months he has been held in uncertain conditions.
He stated that the Ministry of Intelligence agents and judiciary officials concerned, will be responsible for any and all of the consequences of this hunger strike.
Siamak Mirzaei Was arrested in June 23, 2016, and was taken to Tehran’s Evin Prison. He was sentenced to 10 years behind bars and two years of internal exile in Tabas, northeast of Iran.
He has previous record of arrest for writing articles about Iranian ethnics in media outlets.
