A woman was executed today, January 30, 2018, in the northern city of Noshahr. She had been held on death row since four years ago. There is no further information available on the identity of the victim.
The woman’s family tried very much to prevent this execution, to no avail and the poor woman was executed at dawn in Noshahr Prison.
Iran has the highest rate of executions per capita in the world. At least 82 women and 24 juveniles have been executed during Rouhani’s tenure. Nevertheless, the true figures are definitely higher as most executions in Iran are carried out in secret.
