Iraj Fattahi, the head of the Central Karaj Prison, severely beat political prisoner Mehdi Farahi Shandiz, before transferring him to solitary confinement. According to a source close to this prisoner, Mehdi Farahi Shandiz broke his side ribs and suffered injuries in his left ear. After the beating, and in spite of being injured, the prisoner was transferred to solitary confinement where he was held for 31 days during without the right to phone calls and family visits. The political prisoner has been deprived of medical treatment.
